email : rparkes@heringtons.net
Russell has been with Heringtons since leaving law school in 1984. Initially specialising in criminal work for many years and acquiring his Higher Rights of Audience, Russell developed an interest in mental disorders.
Russell joined David Harding to create an active presence in representing the interests of those that are ill in the community and detained in hospital. Like David, Russell sits as a judge on Mental Health Review Tribunals.
Russell's practice is extensive. He still practices in Criminal Law both in the magistrates and higher courts. He has a particular interest in road traffic law, including drink driving, "exceptional hardship" and "special reasons" arguments.
Regulatory Crime forms a significant part of his practice including Health and Safety defence work and Environmental protection issues.
Latterly Russell has taken over as head of the Employment Law Department and advises both Employers and Employees in all aspects of Industrial Relations.
Away from work Russell is an enthusiastic gardener and family man. He also plays golf down at Rye where the fairways are sufficiently wide to accommodate his broad range of experience!
One of Russell’s clients recently commented:
“What however was very important to both my wife and myself was to feel that I had a team on my side. Your intervention, whilst it perhaps surprised you was very well timed and did the trick and for this I was very grateful. I therefore am very grateful to [.....] for recommending you and can only say that that you have been excellent value for money but more than that also an informed and skilful friend when I most needed one. Many thanks. I would have no hesitation in recommending you to others who may have need of your services.”
