John qualified as a solicitor in 1976, having trained locally. Later that year he moved to a Brighton practice as an assistant solicitor and subsequently became a partner. He joined Smart & Spicer (now Heringtons) in 1980 and became a partner in 1985.  

In Residential Conveyancing John deals with all legal aspects in relation to buying and selling houses, flats and bungalows.  He advises fully on rights and obligations when buying and selling both freehold and leasehold property including advice on any related mortgage. He ensure matters proceed smoothly towards exchange of contracts and completion of the transaction. 

In Commercial Conveyancing – buying and selling freehold and leasehold businesses - John deals with all legal aspects relating to the successful acquisition or disposal of a business from the commencement of the transaction through to completion. He advises on rights and obligations and take all necessary steps to achieve a successful outcome.

John has been married for 33 years and has six fantastic children, three girls and three boys in that order.[]
